BioNova Natural Swimming Pools – The Natural Choice

Since the 1980’s, BioNova has concentrated solely on the design and construction of Natural Swimming Pools (NSP’s). From its location outside of Munich in Bergkirchen, Germany, the BioNova World Headquarters controls and coordinates the worldwide network of BioNova Partners.  Decades of experience in the design and construction of both Private and Public NSP’s, combined with studied, careful and innovative research projects, have resulted in a refined BioNova NSP System that has been proven to work in a variety of climates and applications around the world.

However, the heart of the BioNova NSP System remains the same today as it was when it was developed three decades ago.  The goal is to experience nature at first hand, in naturally cleaned and purified water.  This is a bathing experience the way Mother Nature designed it -purely biological, purely natural.  BioNova provides a pool and landscape that is naturally relaxing – a vacation holiday in your own backyard.

BioNova designers are creating a variety of looks that complement any property.  Simple, conventional NSP’s (or 1-chamber pools) are constructed typically to look more like a pond.  The regeneration zone is built around the perimeter of the pool and a dividing wall, usually constructed of stones or blocks, is used to separate the swimming zone from the plants in the regeneration zone.

BioNova NSP’s can also be built with a physically separated swimming and regeneration zone (or 2-chamber pools).  These can be designed to look like classic pools, with strong geometric lines – or they can be designed with organic shapes.  Premium, luxury pool ambience is inherent in all of the BioNova 2-chamber designs, as this design technique provides for better filtration, better water clarity and increased design flexibility.  Many existing chemical pools can also be modified using the BioNova system, to convert them into  BioNova Natural Swimming Pools.

Some questions that need to be answered by potential NSP clients are:

-          Is an NSP really what they want?  Do they understand both the salient and subtle differences between an NSP and a chemical pool?

-          How much room can they devote to the design?

-          Can they design a 2-chamber NSP on this site?  If so, where can the two zones be located?

Once the decision to install an NSP has been made and the conceptual design for the swimming and regeneration zones has been sketched out, the BioNova designer then starts to fill in some of the hydraulic details. The goal of the hydraulic design is to clean the surface of the water and transport the pool water efficiently to the roots of the plants in the regeneration zone.  Locations for skimmers, overflow gutters, distribution shafts and the biological fine filter are analyzed.  The hydraulic design creates a laminar surface flow in skimming action to remove leaves and other large particles.  Smaller contaminants are drawn into the biological fine filter and removed by the system.  Oxygen is injected into the system through hoses connected to a small compressor.  Plumbing dimensions and distances are calculated to optimize energy efficiency.  Pumps are sized appropriately to economically balance the circulation requirements of each NSP.

BioNova’s Worldwide Network includes BioNova Partners in Europe, Africa, Asia, Canada and the USA.  Every BioNova Partner has undergone extensive training in BioNova NSP designs.  This includes:

-          Design Elements

-          Technology

-          Biology

-          Limnology

-          Construction Techniques

-          Hydraulics

-          Bioreactors and Filtration Systems

-          Mechanical Cleaning Devices

Every BioNova Partner is familiar with the requirements in their climactic zone.  BioNova NSP systems have been successful in every climactic zone, from dry, hot, arid climates to wet, tropical climes to the cool season summers of the mountains.
